Had a wonderful time catching brook trout and smallmouth bass all day long with Matt. I can’t say enough about First Light guide service!  I have been fly fishing for almost 50 years and I’m here to tell you that Matt is a consummate pro with all the skills and knowledge to get the job done.

However, Matt is not on an ego trip,  The satisfaction and enjoyment of his clients is his number one goal. He knows how to tailor the fishing experience to the requirements of the fisherman.

I have fished two times with matt and had a ball both times.  I am almost 70 years old and have Parkinson’s disease. I am weak and clumsy and very awkward.  needless to say, I present quite a challenge to a guide! Matt is very considerate. He is acutely aware of my physical limitations and does everything possible to provide the perfect fishing experience. And yet, if you want to hike 5 miles into the wilderness and fish a stream that’s never been fished, Matt can help you to do that. Pond fishing-stream fishing- It’s all about the client for Matt!

Matt hosted me while fishing in the Moosehead Lake area over a weekend after my section hike of the Appalachian Trail and we slayed them. He has high quality and durable equipment and all I brought was myself. Each day was a tranquil unique experience unlike any other. Some of the favorite fishing in my life has been in Maine’s Northwoods.

My husband, a friend, and I all went fishing with Matt and it was an amazing experience! He is great at explaining information regardless of level of outdoor experience, so no reason to feel intimidated. Matt was knowledgeable, and friendly and we can’t wait to go again!
